Striking the right balance between gastronomic delights and aesthetic pleasure is important. And in this respect, Fil Fil keeps up to its name. If you have a taste for Mughlai and want good value for money, this restaurant is for you.

Fil Fil is marvellously divided into three distinct chambers. As you walk through its huge white doors, you step into the bright white zone — with impeccable white walls, cane chairs and the well gelled flooring. Sitting here, you can see cars on the road whizzing past you as you sit back and puff away on a hookah. The central hall is more of a family place with a formal table and chair arrangement and dim lighting.

If you’re in great company, or have the tendency to overeat, you might just tend to block out the dull music droning on in the background. Thankfully, the service is prompt enough to save you from feeling like a starfish on a hot slab. However, Fil Fil misses out on booze.

The Prawns Chutneywala (Rs 180), for instance, is crisp and tangy. On the vegetarian platter, Tandoori Mushrooms (Rs 149) makes a good starter dish. While those who prefer mild spices may relish the food, it may not be as savoured by those who have a penchant for spice.

If you choose to punctuate your meal with something sweet, the Dudi Halwa (Rs 80) is probably the best option. Served in ample quantity, the crunchy vegetable punch smothered with rabri tastes great. Or even the phirni (Rs 60) is quite delectable.
