A taste of premiere madness

I would have needed the energy of a superhero to keep in pace with the frenzy of Krrish, writes Hrithik.

I would have needed the energy of a superhero to keep pace with the frenetic happenings in the week preceding Krrish’s release. From a performance at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) at Dubai, to promotional events, to screenings, it was all happening last week. But when I look back, I loved every moment.

Dancing in Dubai: Dubai is like a home away from home. June 16 was the IIFA gala and I must say the show was put together well. We got a lot of affection from the NRI community, again. IIFA is a great platform for the Indian film industry to interact with the rest of the world. Besides, it is great to spend time with the fraternity one belongs to. I returned to Mumbai the next day and guess what, didn’t get even a moment’s respite. There was a series of print and radio interviews lined up.

On a screening spree: On Monday we flew to Singapore for the screening of Krrish, organised by Singapore Tourism. Although we also had screenings at Hong Kong and Dubai, Singapore will remain close to my heart because a substantial portion of the film has been shot on location there. The next destination was Dubai. The entire crew reached there for the premiere on June 21.

Homecoming: Finally, on Thursday, the film was shown to the Mumbai media, and the next day we headed to Delhi for a similar exercise. I am a born perfectionist and believe in giving everything adequate time. But there are times when one has to let go. There was so little time and so much to do last week. There were moments when I got pre-release jitters and at others where I was poised.

Interacting with media in Dubai, Singapore and back home was a learning experience. However, the toughest test lies ahead: When the aam janta gives its verdict on our work. But if initial reports are any indication, it has been appreciated.
