THE AIRPORTS Authority of India (AAI) is developing infrastructure for faster movement of security personnel during emergency at the Amausi airport.
The AAI recently invited tenders from enlisted contractors with CPWD/MES/P&T/Railways/State PWD and even PSUs for taking up construction of quarters for the CISF personnel on the Amausi Airport premises at an estimated cost of Rs 1.96 crore.
The project is expected to complete in nine months and will provide necessary infrastructure for the security personnel who would be part of the ‘quick reaction teams’ to move into the airport within minutes of a crisis for counter terrorist operations, AAI sources here said.
The last date for submitting the application for tenders was November 6, and only those who are currently enlisted as government contractors could apply, considering the sensitive nature of the work. The CISF accommodation is expected to cut down drastically the response time to send security personnel anywhere on the airport premises for dealing with an emergency. The AAI had recently decided to include Amausi airport among other non-metro airports in its plan to install ‘explosive detection devices’ which would facilitate checking of all luggage and cargo loaded on aircraft. The device would be installed in four months, sources added.
