AAP claims BJP, Cong afraid of its progress

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) blamed the Congress and the BJP for using disruptive tactics, minutes after a man, claiming to be an Anna Hazare supporter, threw black ink on top leaders of the party during a press meet on Monday evening.

“These two parties can see their support base slipping away from them. They are scared and are, therefore, resorting to such tactics to disrupt our progress. The protester was not an Anna supporter as he claims. We have heard that he is BJP’s general secretary from Ahmednagar,” said AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

Despite being heckled, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, whom the protester targeted, refused to accept security. “I don’t need security, God is there to protect me,” he said. “We are challenging those in power, people with vested interests. This is why such attacks are being carried out,” Kejriwal said.

The man, who identified himself as Nachiketa Mavlekar, said: “Anna is my guru. I am a BJP activist. These people have betrayed everyone, including Anna. They have betrayed the Jan Lokpal Andolan. Anna has asked them not to use his name. They are still using his name,” said Nachiketa before being taken away by the police. Kejriwal was sitting on the dais with other party leaders when Nachiketa threw black ink on his face. AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s cap and senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s hands also had ink smudges.
