On the basis of documents, witness Deepak (who goes by a single name) said several calls were exchanged between former UP police officer KK Gautam and Dr Sushil Chaudhary.

Chaudhary is an acquaintance of Dr Dinesh Talwar, who is Aarushi’s uncle.

In its closure report, the CBI had talked about the loop of calls between Chaudhary and Gautam on May 16 and May 17, 2008. Previously, when Gautam had appeared as a prosecution witness in August and stated that Chaudhary had asked him not to mention the word “rape” in Aarushi’s post-mortem reports.

Deepak stated that the calls were exchanged several times on May 16, 2008 — the day when Aarushi was found murdered — and on May 17, 2008 — when Hemraj’s body was discovered.

The witness’s cross examination will continue on November 29.
