The CBI, which probed the May 2008 double murder of Class 9 student Aarushi Talwar and domestic help Hemraj Banjade, suspects that the killer had used gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints at the crime scene. This has been established by forensic examinations on crucial evidence found at the Talwar residence where the murders took place on May 16. A bottle of Ballantine's Scotch whisky found on the dining table in the flat had bloodstains of Aarushi and Banjade but no fingerprints, proving that the killer wore gloves, a CBI source told HT.

The bottle is the only piece of evidence that has the bloodstains of both Aarushi and Banjade. The finding could help the CBI strengthen its case against Aarushi's parents, dentists Nupur and Rajesh Talwar.

"The bottle was dressed up by the killer like the rest of the evidence at the crime scene," the source said. "It seems one of the killers had a nervous breakdown kind of situation after which he or she drank from the bottle."
