Abducted Indian rescued in Manila

The hostage, identified as Sarjit Singh, was rescued after a shootout at the Batangas checkpoint.

An abducted Indian was rescued by Filipino police from the northern province of Batangas, reports said on Friday.

An official of the National Anti-Crime Task Force told Radio dzMM that the hostage, identified as Sarjit Singh, was rescued after a shootout on Thursday at the Batangas checkpoint.

The two kidnappers were intercepted at the checkpoint along with Singh who was reportedly abducted in Candelaria, Quezon, several days ago.

One kidnapper was killed while the other managed to escape despite being wounded in the shootout.
