ADA officials, cops injured in brickbatting incident

The ADA officials accompanied by police personnel had gone to start work on the land of the Navprayagam colony in Naini when the farmers opposed their move and assaulted the officials. Besides, the farmers also damaged several vehicles of the ADA staff and the policemen. Several women belonging to farmers’ families also sustained injuries when the police personnel resorted to a lathicharge.

It may be mentioned that the land on which Navprayagam colony has been planned was being used by villagers for farming of vegetables and flowers. The farmers had been opposing their eviction from the land and they were also being backed by some organisations like the Bharatiya Kisan Union. The farmers had even staged a dharna in protest against the ADA move for a couple of days.
The ADA had lodged an FIR against some unidentified farmers.
