All rounder Andre Adams has been released from the New Zealand squad for the third one-day international against Pakistan in Christchurch on Saturday.

The release of Adams, who will instead play for his province Auckland, is the only change to the squad beaten by six wickets in the second match of the series on Wednesday.

"We are releasing Andre to give him the opportunity to play some one-day cricket at domestic level before we select the squad for the Napier match," coach John Bracewell said after Wednesday's match.

The fourth match of the series takes place in Napier next Wednesday, while the fifth and final encounter between the two teams is in Wellington on January 17.

Squad: Stephen Fleming (captain), Ian Butler, Craig Cumming, Chris Cairns, Brendon McCullum, Craig McMillan, Hamish Marshall, Kyle Mills, Jacob Oram, Scott Styris, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori.
