The 16-member committee, headed by its chairman Col (retd) Kanwar Bharadwaj, has been appointed by the deputy commissioner, PC Meena.

Other members of the team include additional deputy commissioner BS Hooda, ex-servicemen and officials of various government departments.

The DC was facing pressure from the families of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen to ensure better upkeep of all historical monuments in the district.

The committee will survey the district and submit a report about how these memorials can be maintained in a better way.

"We just have completed our first survey on Sunday. We surveyed Atul Kataria Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Vikas Marg, Maharana Pratap Chowk and Omang Bharadwaj Chowk and submitted a report to the DC and MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal," said one of the members, Col (retd) Umang Bharadwaj.

The special committee expressed dissatisfaction over a pending project of installing a statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at Subhash Chowk roundabout, Sohna Road.
