District Magistrate PC Meena on Thursday invoked Section 144 of CrPC for enforcing these guidelines strictly in the district. He has also directed all the concerned officers to launch a drive to ensure strict enforcement.

The directive comes after 11 school children died in an accident in Ambala on Monday as they were on their way to school on a foggy morning.

On finding any violation, the guilty will be booked under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The school management will be held responsible for lack of safety measures in school buses or vehicles. The driver will be held liable only for driving-related offences.

These directions were issued by the district magistrate while presiding over a meeting of senior officers of the district administration on Thursday.
