AMBEDKAR'S DAMAGED statue on AU campus was replaced by a new white marble statue on Thursday morning by the administration which acted promptly to assuage the hurt feelings of a large number of people.
The statue was brought to the city from Lucknow by road late on Wednesday night.
Acting swiftly, the administration is reported to have got in touch with State Government after the news broke out like wild fire and brought angry BSP supporters on the road on Wednesday.
The AU too is reported to have lent a helping hand by immediately agreeing to get the statue replaced.
The statue with a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh is to be borne by the AU.
Meanwhile, there are reports that cops are planning to nail the private guard Bharat Lal, who was on duty on the campus at the time when the statue was harmed.
He had reportedly gone to sleep when the incident took place, said sources.
