The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has “rediscovered” the party it had a disastrous alliance with in 2001 — the BJP.

Addressing his party’s Vijay Sankalp rally on Sunday, BJP leader L.K. Advani made it clear the BJP was all set to forge a poll alliance with the AGP in Assam. “Together we shall strive for nation-building,” he said.

Later, he held a marathon meeting with AGP president Chandra Mohan Patwary and AGP (Pragatisheel) chief Prafulla Kumar Mahanta. The latter’s party, incidentally, is set to merge with the AGP on October 14.
