BJP leader LK Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra against corruption entered Orissa from Chhatisgarh on Sunday. Addressing his first public meeting at Bargarh, Advani said black money deposited in foreign countries should be brought back to the country and spent only in rural areas.

Addressing his first public meeting at Bargarh, Advani said black money deposited in foreign countries should be brought back to the country and spent only in rural areas.

He said black money worth over Rs 25 lakh crore of India’s corrupt people has been deposited in foreign countries. “Black money should be brought back. Not a single village in the country would remain without electricity, drinking water, health services and roads, if the money is spent for the development of rural areas. If that is done, ” Advani said.

Calling the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government as the most corrupt in the independent India, Advani said: “Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister is mere a formality. Congress President Sonia Gandhi takes all decisions of the government.”

Advani said foreign countries like US, Canada and Australia have laws to protect whistleblowers who expose the corrupt. “But the UPA government has sent our MPs, who exposed cash-for-vote scam, to jail,” he said.

“The roads are indicators of development. But the central government is not bothered about the horrible condition of national highways in non-Congress states,” he said.

Advani will continue his yatra in Orissa on Monday after halting for the night at Sambalpur.
