Their favourite destinations abroad include Thailand because it offers affordable trip packages. Some residents also prefer Thailand for shopping reasonably-priced electronic gadgets.

The flavour of the month seems to be hill stations, with most outbound traffic headed for these destinations.

“All the bookings that I have made this year are for Nainital and Manali,” said Manohar Kumar of Wings of Travel.

“Hill stations are preferred locations. Bangkok and Thailand are tourist magnets too,” added Kumar.

Sector 10 resident Rakesh Kaushik is visibly excited. “I run an educational institute. One can’t work at 45 degrees,” he said. “So my first choice is a hill station. We decided to go to Rohtang Pass for 10 days. We wore woollens there.”
