AFTER A brief cold spell – particularly in north Madhya Pradesh –temperatures are likely to rise again across the State in the next two to three days as another western disturbance is approaching the country.
During the past two or three days, night temperature plunged in the State, particularly in northern parts, with places like Gwalior, Khajuraho and Chhattarpur going down to the 5 degrees Celsius mark on one or two days.
However, the weather pattern started changing since Sunday and temperatures were recorded a notch higher than the last two or three days, especially in north Madhya Pradesh. The lowest minimum in State was recorded at 7 degrees Celsius at Gwalior on Saturday night, a degree higher than the lowest minimum of 6 degrees Celsius recorded at Khajuraho.
Regional Meteorological Centre director Dr D P Dubey said though temperature fluctuated by around a degree during the last few days, in the coming two or three days its was expected to rise a bit under the influence of another western disturbance that would again bring in humidity to central India including the State.
The State – particularly the central and western parts – have not been able to experience much of a winter this year, owing to repeated influx of western disturbances precipitated by El Nino effect. With another weather system building up, even the first fortnight of January is likely to remain warmer.

{{/usCountry}}On Sunday, Bhopal recorded a maximum of 26.4 degrees Celsius and minimum of 10.8 (a degree above normal), Indore 27.4 and 8.1, Gwalior – 19.8 and 7.4 and Jabalpur 26.1 and 9.8.
