"The Rs 1000 crore assistance announced by the Prime Minister is only the first instalment. He has assured that resources will not be a constraint and asked us to prepare detailed schemes for securing additional grants," Chief Minister K Rosaiah told reporters after seeing off Singh at the Begumpet airport.

Singh, who made an aerial survey of flood-hit parts of Kurnool and Mahbubnagar districts in AP and Raichur in Karnataka, asked the state to submit proposals to Central government departments concerned for clearance and allocation of funds.

"It is our responsibility to provide necessary financial assistance in this hour of crisis," Rosaiah quoted Manmohan Singh as having told him.

Rosaiah said he had instructed state officials to dovetail the rehabilitation and reconstruction works initiated by the state with Central schemes so that required funds could be secured at the earliest.

The Central teams were ready to visit the state for assessing the impact of drought, but were asked to wait in view of the deluge, he said, adding the Centre would constitute special teams to estimate the devastation caused by the floods.

Based on these assessments the state will seek funds from the government, the Chief Minister said.
