Pakistan has expressed concern over campaign in India against its prominent personalities by a “fundamentalist organisation” to which New Delhi retorted saying “India doesn’t need to take a lecture from Pakistan”.

Lashing out at Pakistan, top official sources said: “(As if) Pakistan is the embodiment of tolerance, pluralism. India does not need to take a lecture from Pakistan. If India has a shortcoming, it is capable of looking after it,” top official sources said.

Pakistan’s reaction came a day after Shiv Sena activists blackened the face of Observer Research Foundation chief Sudheendra Kulkarni over his refusal to cancel the book launch function of former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri in Mumbai.

“We have noted with concern the attempts to disrupt functions organised in respect of prominent Pakistani personalities on visit to India,” the foreign office spokesperson said in a statement on Monday night.

Earlier, the Shiv Sena had threatened to disrupt Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali’s concerts, leading to the cancellation of the events in Mumbai and Pune.
