Born in Alabama, US, Bhatia was raised in Canada. She made her mark in India while hosting two of the most glamorous events in 1996, including the world’s biggest televised event ‘Miss World’. Now, far from all the glitz and glamour, she is in a spiritual retreat at Ranchi.

All soaked in religion and spirituality, this former student of Philosophy is seeking to turn a new chapter in her life at Yogoda Satasanga Ashram at Ranchi.

“Anybody and I repeat anybody who wants to change his or her life should read Autobiography of A Yogi by Sri Sri Paramhansa Yoganandaji,” she affirmed, sitting underneath a Litchi tree of the ashram, where the great Yogi Sri Sri Paramhansa Yoganandaji used to impart his teachings.

“At 19, even when I won Miss India-Canada pageant, I knew the highest goal of my life was to find God alone.

“I came to India in 1994 in search of that ultimate truth but Maya ascended over me and I fell in love with Nitin and married him,” she told Hindustan Times on Saturday.
