The CM was to visit the village, which was part of Indus Valley, to lay the foundation stone of a museum.

The deceased, Vijay Kumar, 28, was a resident of Dhani Bramnan village, 13 km from Rakhi Garhi. Kumar was electrocuted while he was fixing flags for the chief minister's function. He was taken to a hospital in Narnaund, where he was declared brought dead.

The function was cancelled because the administration did not want villagers to protest during the event, sources said

Villagers of Dhani Bramnan held a protest alleging that officials had deputed the panchayat sweeper illegally for the function at Rakhi Garhi.

Sources said villagers and government officials were working on a 'deal' to stop the protest. Kumar was cremated after the district administration assured the villagers that the deceased's family would be compensated.
