THOUGH THE hanging of Mohammad Afzal was put off, the BJP activists organised programme to perform symbolic hanging of Afzal Guru. A programme was organised here at university crossing by the BJP education cell and they hanged the symbolic effigy of Afzal.
Expressing his views on this occasion, state president of BJP education cell Dr Vibhrat Chand Kaushik strongly condemned the leaders and political parties for opposing the death sentenced to Afzal Guru and approaching for mercy.
Kaushik said that it was unfortunate that left party was supporting mercy for Afzal.
Similar programme was also organised at Barhalganj, where the BJP activists organised a dharna at Ambedkar crossing along with Hindu Yuva Vahini activists and hanged Afzal effigy. They also burnt the effigy of former J& K chief minister Farooq Abdullah. Expressing his views on this occasion state secretary of Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh and state president of Hindu Vahini, Sunil Singh demanded to lodge anti-national cases on Farooq Abdullah for his support to the mercy petition.
Coordinator of Parishad Durgesh Tripathi and Brijesh Kumar Tripathi said that the chief minister of J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have insulted the martyrs and supported the mercy appeal of Afzal. City unit president of VHP Dr Praveen Tripathi said it was ridiculous that political leaders were ignoring the constitution and opposing the death penalty of Afzal. They demanded to hang Afzal and said it would draw a line to separate the national and anti-national forces.
