Agencies lock horns over civic amenities

With the resident welfare associations (RWAs) and the maintenance agencies of the housing societies at loggerheads over the hike in charges, upkeep of the basic amenities have taken a toss.

With the resident welfare associations (RWAs) and the maintenance agencies of the housing societies at loggerheads over the hike in charges, upkeep of the basic amenities have taken a toss.

The maintenance dispute have been troubling the residents of Sushant Lok Phase 1 for the last two years as garbage have been laying unattended for days, besides, parks and roads are also not cleaned.

“We are forced to live in unhygienic condition for months. We are worried about the outbreak of diseases like malaria, dengue,” complained KSV Laxmi, a resident. Many hold the ineffectiveness of the RWA as the reason for the situation. “Our recently constituted RWA has failed to deliver,” alleged KVN Rao, another resident.

“People have started dumping garbage near the green belt areas,” said Amrit Lal Baweja, a resident. The RWA on the other hand says it is trying to keep the society clean. “We are doing our best to solve this issue with the maintenance agency soon. Two years ago they were demanding to increase the charges from R1 to Rs 2.50 per
