The vice-chancellor of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar- Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University (CSK-HPAU), SK Sharma has a new prefix to his name.
He will now be called Col SK Sharma as he was felicitated with the honorary rank of Colonel of National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Palampur on Monday.
Group Commander, NCC headquarters, Shimla, Brig Bonny Mathew awarded Sharma in the piping ceremony. The rank is generally awarded to distinguished personnel for their significant role in promoting and organising NCC activities under their jurisdiction by the director general of the corps every year.
Sharma was awarded for his patronage and active association in promoting NCC activities and enhancing the corps besides upholding the ideals of NCC.
Prior to this, Sharma had won several international fellowships and accolades.Sharma's new rank will now bring him in closer contact with the NCC units and enable him to supervise the entire NCC activities.
Brig Mathew appreciated Sharma for his contribution in promoting and organising NCC activities. He urged the Shimla officials to excel to produce good cadets.Sharma said he would help upgrade NCC activities in CSK-HPAU.
