Demanding former communications minister, A Raja's arrest over the 2G spectrum scam and land grab charges, opposition AIADMK cadres held a day's hunger strike on Monday at Perambalur, Raja's hometown.

Activists of the AIADMK's student, youth, women and other wings joined in the demonstration.
According to AIADMK, the hunger strike also demanded a probe into the 2G spectrum allocation scam by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and the alleged use of the "scam money to forcibly acquire farm lands belonging to Dalit farmers in the villages near Perambalur for Rs.60,000/acre to be sold to a corporate for Rs.1.8 million/acre".
The AIADMK also protested irregular supply of drinking water and demanded construction of a bridge across a river near Perambalur while announcing a similar protest in Tiruchirapalli on Tuesday.
