Congress President Sonia Gandhi's cryptic remarks on Thursday that "this can happen" when asked whether Rahul, who was her campaign manager in Rae Bareli, would be given more responsibilities, has triggered the talk about a possible reshuffle at the AICC.

As the "bring Rahul" campaign gained momentum with many a party leader vying with each other to demand a greater role for the younger Gandhi, a family loyalist Satish Sharma on Friday suggested that Rahul and Priyanka be given responsibility to strengthen the party.

Sharma's demand is significant as it was the first such statement from any party leader in recent years favouring a role for Priyanka as well after Rahul formally joined active politics.

Ever since Rahul entered active politics, there have been demands from partymen across the country that he be given a "higher" responsibility.

Several partymen, including AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot who is incharge of Uttar Pradesh, have said that instead of giving Rahul the charge of the crucial state ahead of the assembly polls there next year, he should be made AICC General Secretary.
