Kamal Raj Kiran, a seventh-semester student, was on ventilator since Thursday, and he died due to multi-organ failure. Dr. Bir Singh, professor of Community Medicine, said, "He was brought in a little late and his condition deteriorated quickly." He said the 21-year-old from Andhra Pradesh was a bright student.

AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. D. K. Sharma said, "Kiran developed a rare complication which caused his death."

The 23 patients being treated for dengue at AIIMS include 12 students and five nurses of the institute — showing how badly dengue has hit the campus.
