AirAsia aims to boost tourism within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations by adding the Kuala Lumpur-Yangon flight, said AirAsia commercial chief Kathleen Tan.

AirAsia has daily flights to Yangon from Bangkok. ASEAN members are Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Southeast Asia's largest low-cost carrier has expanded rapidly despite global economic uncertainties and benefited as passengers sought bargain fares. It returned to the black last year with a profit of 549 million ringgit ($166 million).
