The state government has now decided to use the ready-to-use infrastructure for a super-speciality paediatric centre. As a fallout, the district hospital - running from the same premises in Sector 30 - will be shifted to Sector 39.

Mayawati's dream project, the hospital - comprising nine multi-storey towers - was awaiting inauguration when the government changed earlier this year. Uttar Pradesh's principal secretary (health education) JP Sharma inspected the premises in Noida on Friday before making the announcement.

"For the district hospital, a new multi-storey building will be constructed in Sector 39," he added. This will be a third relocation of the district hospital - the only government healthcare facility in Noida - in four years.

The hospital was first shifted from Sector 30 to Sector 39 in 2008 so that the Sector 30 location could be used for construction of Mayawati's dream project. Once the project neared completion, the district hospital was shifted back to Sector 30 in July last year.

Two basements were to be used for car parking and utility services.

The new government had stopped further work, deferring purchase of equipment worth Rs. 100 crore.
