Amar Singh, Jaya Prada join Rashtriya Lok Dal

Former Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada join Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal. Amar Singh to contest Lok Sabha elections from Fatehpur and Jaya Prada from Bijnore.

Former Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada on Monday joined Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Amar Singh will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Fatehpur and Jaya Prada will fight from Bijnore.

"I would like to welcome Amar Singh and Jaya Prada to our party," said Ajit Singh.

In a press conference at Ajit Singh's house, Amar Singh said he supports the RLD chief's demand for Harit Pradesh.

"We must split Uttar Pradesh in smaller states if we want development," Amar Singh told reporters.

According to reports, Bollywood actor Jaya Prada was approached by Congress but she wanted Amar Singh to be inducted into the party as well. The Congress party reportedly asked Amar Singh to contest polls an an independent.

"Amar Singhji and I want to work with Ajit Singh for the people of Uttar Pradesh," said Jaya Prada.

Ajit Singh told reporters that his party will remain a part of the UPA and will not join the NDA.

Amar Singh and Jaya Prada were expelled from Mulayam Singh Yadav's SP in 2012 for anti-party activities.

He formed Lok Manch later and contested for 360 assembly seats in UP in 2012 but lost the elections.
