Yes! If one goes by the State Government plans to attract hoteliers to invest in developing properties in the Lucknow-Kanpur corridor. That means the Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA) could witness more hotels coming up in the corridor than industrial units in the next few years.
The five-star hotel Piccadily has become the first to take the locational advantage.
Barely six years ago, a similar proposal made by the government to attract hoteliers on the Lucknow-Kanpur corridor was laughed at by hoteliers who felt no reason to be in the proximity of the Amausi airport.
An interesting aspect to the entire development had been that many taxi operators had confined themselves to the Alambagh locality during the past few years to cater to the rising airport passenger traffic.
“The fact remains that nobody wants to get stuck in the traffic snarls in the heart of the city during morning or evening hours when business could be conducted from the confines of a hotel which even provides a Wi-Fi friendly Internet connectivity site within the property for all class of travellers, ” says Piccadily sales and markeing Sanjeev Kapoor.
The reason for a five star hotel to come up in the proximity of the Amausi airport is not very difficult to find out considering the fact that during the past two years, the corporate movement in the city has been at an all-time high with many renowned domestic and global brands opening their regional offices here. The retail boom with the opening of East End Mall and Sahara Ganj had further pushed corporate traffic to the nawabi city.
