Their victims, mostly labourers, were allegedly plied with toddy until they lost consciousness and then taken to a secluded place where their heads were bludgeoned, Cyberabad Police Commissionerate sources said on Monday.
The three persons arrested in the case used to frequent toddy shops near Rajendranagar on the city outskirts and "keep an eye on their targets", they said.
All nine bodies were found with heads smashed beyond recognition, resulting in delay in identification, the source said.
The suspects were caught when police was probing a double murder - both victims of the same gang - in the hillocks of Babulreddynagar in Rajendranagar, they said.
