Hazare, currently on a vow of silence, issued a statement to express his unhappiness over the empty-handed return of a delegation from his Ralegan Siddhi village.

“The sarpanch and others did not want anything from Rahul Gandhi, they just wanted to tell him about our village,” Hazare said.

“I am impressed with these youth, who said they would not meet him (Gandhi) again, even if they are called now and nor would they invite him to the village,” he said.

In a separate development, the Centre asked the Maharashtra government to ensure security for Hazare, following attacks on two of his team members recently. Reports about differences within Team Anna continued with the Archbishop of Delhi, Vincent M Concessao, also being reportedly unhappy with the movement turning political.
