Another batch of pilgrims leaves for Amarnath

Amid tight security, the tenth batch of 4,470 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas.

Amid tight security, the tenth batch of 4,470 pilgrims on Tuesday left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The pilgrims comprising 3,010 men, 1154 women, 155 children and 151 sadhus left in a cavalcade of 148 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 5.10 am for Amarnath, official said.

The convoy has already crossed Batote on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway towards base camps in Pahalgam in Kashmir Valley.

With Tuesday's batch, as many as 32,242 pilgrims have left Jammu for their onward journey to the shrine.
