Another death in dasna jail; foul play alleged
A 24-year-old man, Bhupinder Singh, who was lodged at Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad, died in mysterious circumstances early on Friday morning after complaining of severe chest pain, jail officials said. Last year, Ashutosh Asthana – prime accused in Ghaziabad PF-Scam case -- also died in mysterious circumstances at Dasna Jail, reports Peeyush Khandelwal.
A 24-year-old man, Bhupinder Singh, who was lodged at Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad, died in mysterious circumstances early on Friday morning after complaining of severe chest pain, jail officials said. Last year, Ashutosh Asthana – prime accused in Ghaziabad PF-Scam case -- also died in mysterious circumstances at Dasna Jail.
Singh was lodged along with his father and uncle on charges of honour-killing of his sister in Muzaffarnagar area last year, officials said.
Bhupinder’s case was being heard by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad.
“After his condition deteriorated, he was referred to jail hospital and then to MMG district hospital where he died. The post-mortem reports are awaited,” jail superintendent V K Singh told HT.
He also denied any foul play in Singh’s death. However, the Singh’s lawyer Dev Raj said he was hale and hearty.
Prison officials revealed four deaths in 2008, nine in 2009 and two in 2010, including Singh’s death.
