The bail formalities, however, could not be completed leaving the Munnabhai fans dejected.

The special TADA court on Wednesday evening issued the release warrant for the actor and his friend and co-convict Yusuf Nulwalla, who was also lodged in Yerwada Jail.

Pankaj Kharbandha, and Nitin Manmohan, close friends of the actor, stood as his sureties in court.

But his lawyers failed to bring the release order to Yerwada Jail on time. This is the second time this process has been delayed.

Last time when Dutt was given interim bail, it took three days for him to come out after his lawyers could complete all the release order formalities.

He had sought for bail previously on the grounds that the TADA court did not hand him the copy of the judgment soon after his conviction. He was then taken into custody on October 22.

Dutt had paid Rs 5 lakh in 1995, too, as surety when he was granted bail by the Supreme Court then.

He has been at Yerwada Jail since October 22.
