Appointments of R&AW, CRPF chiefs cleared

PM Modi cleared the name of Rajinder Khanna as chief of the country's external spy agency R&AW while Prakash Mishra, who was in the race for the director of the CRPF, has been made director general of CRPF.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday cleared the name of Rajinder Khanna as chief of the country's external spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) while Prakash Mishra, who was in the race for the director of CBI, has been made director general of central reserve police force (CRPF).

Rajinder Khanna, a senior most official in the R&AW, will be its secretary for two years. He is 1978 batch official of the R&AW cadre.

"there was a demand from the R&AW to make its chief from the internal officers instead of bringing outsider IPS officer," a PMO official said, the PM also endorsed the view so Khanna was selected.

The current incumbent Alok Joshi who is superannuation this month is 1976 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre.

Khanna has led many counter terrorism operations in the spy agency.

Prakash Mishra, 1978 Odisha cadre IPS, was in the race for the director of the country's premier investigation agency CBI but a panel comprising the Prime Minister, Leader of the largest party in the opposition and the Chief Justice of India selected Anil Sinha, who was special director of the CBI.

Saxena has long experienced of the USA and Pakistan.
