Ardh Kumbh: Clean Ganga water demanded

Jai Shiv Sena has announced to go on the warpath soon if remedial measures are not taken by the government and the district administration in this regard.

National president of the Sena Onkar Nath Tripathi and Akhada Parishad spokesperson Ramanand Puri held a joint meeting here to discuss the issue. Both have threatened that without sufficient and clean water in the Ganga, there is no question of sants participating in the Ardh Kumbh here. Both expressed concerned over the dirty and stinking water in the Ganga.

Puri reminded the government that the sadhu fraternity had refused to take a holy dip in Magh Mela this year due to the government’s callousness to check pollution in the Ganga, the water of which, they said was no longer fit for rituals.

Hari Chaitanya Brahmachari of Teekarmafi Ashram said that several meetings would be convened in Varanasi, Chitrakoot, Amethi, Gazipur and other places to galvanise the masses .
