An army jawan was killed in an ongoing counter-insurgency operation against militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said on Friday.

The jawan was killed on Thursday during an exchange of fire between security forces and militants at Rajwara area in Handwara, they said.

An unidentified militant was killed on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, army has launched a massive combing operation in the forests of Kupwara district along the LoC following reports that militants were trying to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley ahead of onset of winter.
