Army jawan’s eyes gouged out in Jammu

An army jawan with both eyes gouged out was found at Choki Choura on Jammu-Poonch highway, around 60 km from Jammu, on Wednesday. Police said it did not appear to be a militancy-related incident. HT reports.

An army jawan with both eyes gouged out was found at Choki Choura on Jammu-Poonch highway, around 60 km from Jammu, on Wednesday. Police said it did not appear to be a militancy-related incident.

Rakesh Dutt who was posted with 11 Rashtriya Rifles in Kishtwar was on a month-long leave which ended on March 31. He got married nearly three years ago, and the couple have a two-year-old daughter.

He was discovered lying in an unconscious state by a passerby who contacted the police. Dutt was then rushed to a hospital.

“I have no idea who is behind this. I am on my way to the military hospital where he is admitted,” said his brother Mukesh.

A policeman said a case has been registered and probe is on to ascertain the circumstances in which Dutt’s eyes were damaged.
