Around 1,000 tortoises worth several lakhs were seized when they were being smuggled to Bangladesh from Varanasi on the Grand Trunk Road in Bihar's Aurangabad district today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police searched a vehicle and recovered the tortoises being smuggled for use in stimulants.

Further investigation was on, the police said, adding no arrest has been made so far.
