Around 1.27 lakh students appear for CAT re-test
The test was cancelled in November last year following leakage of the question papers.
The Common Admission Test (CAT) for the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, which was cancelled in November last year following leakage of question papers, is being held all over the country on Sunday.
The decision to hold the re-test was taken by all the five IIMs and care was taken to ensure that it did not clash with other competitive examination.
Around 1.27 lakh students across 26 cities are appearing for the test.
Reports from Ahmedabad said the re-test was being held amidst 'additional precautionary measures' at various centres in the city.
As a precautionary measures, IIM changed the printing press where the question papers were set and had decided not to give the contract to the Indian Banking Services Personnel (IBPS), from where the alleged leak occurred.
Raghunath Venkateshwaran, a CAT candidate said while scanning through his notes at the last hour that, "students have rumble in their tummy about how the question paper would be set after the leak...But we have put that aside and have prepared well."
The tests were cancelled for the first time in 28 years when the CBI unearthed the alleged paper leak racket and arrested the kingpin, a doctor and others while seizing a set of question papers that were being sold at exorbitant rates.
CBI, during its probe gave a clean chit to faculty of all IIMs but is investigating the role of an IBPS press staffer for allegedly conniving with the kingpin of the racket Ranjit Singh.
