As the BJP planned to rake up the Bofors issue once again, Congress on Monday said former Minister of State for Defence Arjun Singh's remarks regarding kickbacks in the gun deal had been taken "completely out of context" to "mislead" people.

"Bofors is a non-issue.....An issueless opposition seeks to rake up the issue every now and then. It is a non-existent bogey. Rajiv Gandhi and Congress need no certificate from anyone", party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.

Apparently referring to Leader of Opposition LK Advani's remarks that the former Union Minister's "revelations" that somebody did accept pay-offs in the gun deal was "a serious matter" and would be pursued in the current session, he said adding Singh's remarks have been taken completely out of context.
