Arunachal scouts should be raised in the Army: CM

To create employment for local youths, the Arunachal Pradesh government has sought the support of NCST to raise Arunachal scouts in the Indian Army on the lines of the ones in Ladakh and Nagaland, official sources said on Saturday.

To create employment for local youths, the Arunachal Pradesh government has sought the support of NCST to raise Arunachal scouts in the Indian Army on the lines of the ones in Ladakh and Nagaland, official sources said on Saturday.

In a meeting with with a delegation of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) yesterday, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu stressed on the need to have Arunachal scouts which will create employment to local youths familiar with the terrains in the international border along the state.

The delegation led by its chairperson Urmila Singh assured the CM that they will take up the matter with the appropriate authorities.

The team studied the unemployment problem faced by the youth of the tribal state during their field study.

Khandu said the state government has already placed a memorandum to the Centre on the issue.
