The ashes of the Delhi gangrape victim arrived at her native village late on Monday evening (after sunset) due to which her family decided to postpone its immersion in the Ganga to Tuesday.

The family said after the immersion, the four-day post cremation rituals would start with the tying of 'ghanta' at a village temple and the father of the girl would perform all the rituals.

Earlier on Monday, at around 3.15pm, 11 members of the family, including parents and brothers, arrived at the airport.

The district administration made no transport arrangement for them.

Family members had to hire an Innova car while the local BJP MLA arranged four cars for them.

At around 6.30pm, when the family reached Ghazipur, hundreds of people turned up to pay homage to the deceased. At around 7pm, the family members reached the village. The entire village turned up at their ancestral home to pay their tributes.

It was somber scene at the house. The grief stricken 80year-old grandmother and cousin sister of the deceased were inconsolable. Grief was written large on the victim's mother's face. She has been advised rest by doctors. In New Delhi, after the girl's cremation the mother had fainted and had to be hospitalised.

Tewari along with other politicians also arrived at the village to pay homage to the girl.

DM, SP remain absent

Strangely, none of the district administration officials, including DM and SP, turned up at the village.
