The diminutive middle-order batsman, 20, saw off the Indian attack on Sunday during his unbeaten 158, the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi batsman in Test cricket so far.

He smashed three sixes and 24 fours in his 194-ball knock to give home fans something to cheer about.

His brilliant effort, however, failed to stop India from winning the Test by an innings and 83 runs for a 2-0 sweep.

"We are all privileged to see his innings," said Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore.
