Digitimes research shows that for a number of developers, BlackBerry's platform still offers a number of advantages over Android.

Digitimes, the site with the inside track on the southeast Asian tech world, has been polling developers who attended Friday's BlackBerry Jam Asia conference in Hong Kong to find out how app builders feel about the platform and its future.

And, despite the fact that BlackBerry has agreed in principle to go private, has published the worst quarterly figures in its history and has taken the radical step of selling unlocked handsets directly to US consumers from its websites, cutting out carriers in the process, the overall mood appears to be positive.

The site reports that the majority of Taiwanese app developers have no intention of deserting the BB10 platform in the near future and will continue to make apps for smartphones supporting BlackBerry's latest operating system. The reason being that on BlackBerry, good apps stand a better chance of standing out and that, thanks to a better internal approach to testing and clearance, titles that make it into BlackBerry's BlackBerry World app store are of a better quality than much of what's on Google Play.
