Assam exempts entertainment tax for Slumdog Millionaire

Elated over the Oscar winning feat of Slumdog Millionaire, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced exemption of entertainment tax on the movie in the state.

, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday announced exemption of entertainment tax on the movie in the state.

“The entire nation is proud of the winning feat of the team and the government has responded to it by exempting tax to enable more and more people to watch the movie,” Gogoi said in Assam.

Congratulating the movie’s team members, the chief minister hailed the feat of sound recordist from the state Amrit Pritam who worked as a deputy to Resul Pookutty, the winner of the Oscar best sound mixing award for Slumdog Millionaire.

“The young sound recordist (who earned fame for special sound effects in Amir Khan’s film Ghajini) has a great future,” he said.
