It's raining sops from the Congress-led government in Assam. The latest is a fleet of 70 ambulances for plantation workers in 150 tea estates across the State.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi handed over these ambulances along with the twin Morom (love) and Mamata (compassion) schemes under National Rural Health Mission in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The twin schemes entail Rs 75 per day for a week for an indoor patient in medical college and a gift hamper for a newborn towards improving post-natal care. A month earlier, the Assam government had launched the Baideu and Nabou schemes entailing fiscal awards for single married and unmarried women.
