The head-on crash occurred at a sharp bend on a narrow road near Dadu, a city about 180 kms northeast of the southern port city of Karachi, said area police officer Ali Asghar.

Twenty people on the bus were killed, Asghar said. Fifteen, including the bus driver, were killed instantly and five others died at a nearby hospital.

Twelve people were injured and four, including the oil tanker driver, were in serious conditions, he said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but traffic accidents are common in Pakistan because of poor road conditions, vehicle maintenance and driving standards.
