THE DISMAL power scenario of the city would continue as the Aggregate Technical and Commercial (ATC) losses of KESCo are mounting with each passing day.
In the current fiscal, the ATC loss in the month of September was almost the same as compared to the preceding year. The ATC loss in September this fiscal was 46.92 per cent while it was 46.09 per cent in the previous year. With
KESCo failing to curtail its ATC losses in the two consecutive financial years, power distribution system of the company was poised to break down in the coming summer months. The ATC loss comprises of pilferage of power and line losses during distribution from the sub-stations.
The sorry state of affairs in KESCo can be gauged from the fact that two of its three circles reported more than 55 percent of ATC loss in September this fiscal.
The most deplorable performance was that of Circle I where ATC loss stood at 59. 54 per cent accounting for maximum revenue loss to KESCo exchequer. The second in line was Circle III, which recorded ATC loss at 55.31 per cent aggravating the financial crisis of the company. However, KESCo had some solace in the form of Circle II which recorded ATC loss at 20.24 per cent.
The performance of Circle I both in terms of ATC loss and revenue realisation has been a cause of concern for KESCo. Out of the five divisions of this circle, four reported more than 50 per cent of ATC loss. However, it was Electricity House division which crossed all limits and reported 70. 95 per cent ATC loss.
